Athletic Trainer


JOB TITLE:  Athletic Trainer
JOB CLASSIFICATION:  Non-certified professional

CONTRACT CALENDAR: 220 day contract with evening, some weekend work, and some overnight trips are required
  • Pay Frequency: On the 10th and the 25th of each month.
  • Will be paid on the certified employee scale with the same benefits as certified personnel.
REPORTS TO: Head Athletic Trainer/Athletic Director/ Director of State and Federal Programs

JOB SUMMARY:
  • Specifically, plan, observe, monitor, and care for athlete participate in practices and competitions until in care of a parent.
  • Perform assigned duties in the athletic training program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Plan, observe, monitor, and care for athlete participant in all practices and competitions until in care of parent(s).
  • Plans for injury prevention protocol including protective devises, equipment maintenance, pre-participation exams, evaluation of environmental conditions and help with athletic drug screenings.
  • Maintains an injury recognition and evaluation protocol and refers to doctor as deemed necessary.
  • Manages, treat, and rehabilitates all athletic injuries.
  • Keeps a daily injury/ treatment log and help to organize the duties of student managers and trainers.
  • Keeps an inventory of athletic and medical equipment.
  • Records, files, and reports all insurance claims, physicals, and sports medical forms for all current Tullahoma High School and Middle School athletes.
  • When an accident occurs, implements the emergency plan.
  • Helps with preparing equipment for transportation to away games for the sports assigned.
  • Expected to be at one of the schools by 8:30AM Monday-Friday to treat athletes throughout the school day and then be present for the assigned sport teams.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Expected to remain up to date in the field of sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation as well as recertification through attendance of clinics and workshops.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the athletic director and/or principal.
  • Demonstrates personal characteristics expected of all Tullahoma City School employees.
  • Strong writing, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Complete the Employment Intention Form annually.
  • Complete required annual and safety training each school year by the established due date.
  • Routinely review your Tullahoma City School system email.
  • Follow your instructions for communicating with the proper school personnel for being absent.
  • Meet the necessary health and physical qualifications.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education/ Experience Requirements:  Bachelor's Degree
  • Current valid National Athletic Trainer's Associate certification.
  • Current valid Tennessee Athletic Trainer's license.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Heavy (lift 100 lbs), Occasional (over 15% and up to 40% of the time). Working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions the majority of the time. May be exposed to noise, temperature, uneven ground, climbing stairs, collisions with participants, and weather conditions as they apply to inside and outside sports. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, balancing, crawling, and reaching.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIRED:
  • Post offer employment exam and drug test
  • Complete satisfactory background check as required by the Tennessee State Department of Education and state law.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Alcohol/ drug screening guidelines, automated external defibrillators (AED), basic life support, blood borne pathogen exposure prevention, concussion awareness and protocol, drug free workplace, employee handbook, FERPA, first aid/CPR/AED, specific training in caring for a person with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (will be provided with employment), hazard communication- Right to Know, sexual harassment, youth suicide, emergency procedures, and technology use policy.

High School Theatre Teacher

JOB GOAL:   
To teach, lead, and direct theatre classes and programs at Tullahoma High School.  To appropriately represent the school, system, and profession to parents and the community.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to see, hear, and move quickly enough to provide for the safety and instructional needs of students. Must be able to articulate clearly. Must be physically active and interactive throughout the school day. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, do light lifting, push, pull, step, and have good finger dexterity. Must possess emotional coping skills appropriate for the management of student behavior. Must be able to tolerate environmental odors and substances commonly associated with children and educational institutions.

DUTIES:

  1. To follow the locally adopted curriculum for theatre
  2. To accommodate for varied learning styles and developmental levels within the classroom.
  3. To manage behavior in ways that maximize learning and build good self esteem.
  4. To plan, prepare, teach, assess, adjust, re-teach, re-assess for a result of appropriate documented student achievement.
  5. To participate in school and system sponsored activities.
  6. To consult with parents, colleagues, and other appropriate individuals or agencies concerned with student achievement, behavior, and development.
  7. To establish and maintain a theatre parent support organization.
  8. To coordinate with the fine arts faculty as part of a cohesive team.
  9. To maintain accurate and current student records including but not limited to ongoing documentation of progress and cumulative records.
  10. To attend required meetings and accurately complete required reports in a timely manner.
  11. To stay abreast of current trends in the profession and maintain a flexible attitude toward the implementation of new ideas in the classroom.
  12. To comply with applicable local, state, and federal policies and procedures.
  13. To perform other duties as requested by the principal or Director of Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EDUCATION:  Bachelor's Degree
  • CERTIFICATION:  Valid professional Tennessee teacher's license with appropriate certification.
  • EXPERIENCE:  Experience in theatre education preferred.

Speech Language Pathologist (Interim)

  1. Provide services and assess individual speech/language needs of students and make recommendations. 
  2. Certify students in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
